Owings respects Pollock's magical glove

When SS needed OF mitt in '16, he declined to use outfielder's award-winner

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Two days before the 2016 season opener, D-backs center fielder A.J. Pollock fractured his elbow sliding into home plate.
The trade of during the offseason combined with Pollock's injury left the D-backs with just to play center, so the D-backs asked shortstop Chris Owings to play some there.
Owings, though, had not played the outfield since he was just a boy, so he didn't have an outfielder's glove.
"A.J. gave me his glove to use," Owings said.
After using it for a bit, Owings was suddenly struck by something.
"Is this the glove you used last year to win the Gold Glove [Award]?" Owings asked Pollock, who won the award in 2015.

When he found out it was, he immediately gave it back.
"I couldn't use it," Owings said. "He won the Gold Glove with it. I asked him to give me another one."
Pollock did, and in hindsight he understands why Owings didn't want to use it, but at the time he was confused.
"I just figured he needed a glove, and that one did well for me," Pollock said. "I thought it would've been a good glove for him to go out and play with, but he didn't want to use it."
