TORONTO -- Padres Minor League righty Chris Paddack -- the prospect acquired from the Marlins in the Fernando Rodney trade a month ago -- has a forearm strain and he is out indefinitely.
The issue cropped up before Game 1 of a doubleheader for Class A Fort Wayne on Monday, and Paddack was scratched from his scheduled start against Beloit.
Paddack will be evaluated over the next couple days, but the extent of his injury is currently unknown. Padres general manager A.J. Preller said Paddack dealt with tendinitis in his right elbow during Spring Training, but he was unsure whether the two are related.
Paddack was off to a brilliant start to his Padres tenure, having allowed just one run in 14 innings, while striking out 23. The 20-year-old Texan is currently rated as San Diego's No. 12 prospect, according to MLB.com.
In other Minor League injury news, center fielder Manny Margot (Padres' No. 2 prospect) is dealing with an Achilles injury, and shortstop Luis Urias (No. 29) has a quad strain. Both have missed time recently, but neither injury is considered serious.
