Buchholz placed on DL; Miller activated

 The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated RHP (@ShelbyMiller19) from the 60-day disabled list (Tommy John surgery) and placed RHP (strained left oblique) on the 10-day disabled list. To make room on the 40-man roster, Arizona released RHP . u5:p
Miller, 27, will start tonight for the D-backs @ Marlins, his first Major League outing since April 23, 2017 vs. Dodgers, after undergoing surgery on May 10, 2017, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. He made 4 rehabilitation starts between Single-A Adv. Visalia and Double-A Jackson, going 1-0 with a 4.66 ERA (10 ER in 19.1 IP), 28 strikeouts and 6 walks. u5:p
Prior to being placed on the disabled list last year, Miller was 2-2 with a 4.09 ERA (10 ER in 22.0 IP), 20 strikeouts and a .230 opponents average in 4 starts, allowing 3 or fewer runs in each outing. He limited right-handed hitters to a .162 average (6-for-37), and has not allowed a home run to a righty in 22 consecutive starts (213 BF) since April 16, 2016. u5:p
The 2015 NL All-Star has allowed 3 or fewer runs in 6 consecutive starts since Sept. 23, 2016, including 1 or fewer 3 times in that span, going 3-2 with a 2.73 ERA (10 ER in 33.0 IP), 28 strikeouts and a .220 opponent average (28-for-127). In 126 career games (120 starts) over parts of 6 Major League seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (2012-14), Atlanta Braves ('15) and D-backs (2016-present), he is 37-49 with a 3.67 ERA (285 ER in 698.1 IP), 573 strikeouts and .246 opponents average.
Buchholz, 33, is 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA (11 ER in 38.2 IP), 31 strikeouts, 7 walks and .211 opponents average in 7 starts for the D-backs this season. He earned the win yesterday @ Pittsburgh Pirates (0 ER in 5.0 IP). u5:p

Crichton, 26, was 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA (18 ER in 16.0 IP), 17 strikeouts, 10 walks and .292 opponent average in 14 games for Triple-A Reno. He was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles on April 2 for cash considerations. u5:p
