ARLINGTON -- Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis will make a third rehab start, this time for Class A Spokane against Everett on Monday.
Lewis has been sidelined since June 21 because of a strained muscle in the back of his right shoulder. He threw 60 pitches over 3 1/3 innings in his most recent start, for Double-A Frisco on Wednesday against Corpus Christi, allowing five runs on eight hits, a walk and two strikeouts.
The Rangers considered putting him back in the Major League rotation but decided on one final rehab outing before the Minor League season ends.
"I think it's based off his last start," manager Jeff Banister said. "How he felt, the ability to stretch him out. If everything goes well, we still have time to line him up and get him four starts."
Rangers raise awareness of childhood cancer: The Rangers joined Major League Baseball in raising awareness of childhood cancer on Friday night. All Major League players, coaches, umpires and grounds crew members wore gold decals and ribbons.
The Rangers recognized a number of organizations during a pregame ceremony, which included a human gold ribbon formed in the outfield at Globe Life Park.
Participating organizations included TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation, Children's Cancer Fund, Wipe Out Kids Cancer, A Small Miracle Foundation, Heroes for Children, Supporters of Jackson Demond, International Leadership of Texas, Miracle Players Foundation and 1 Million 4 Anna.
Derek Holland's 60 Feet 6 Foundation is also active in the fight against childhood cancer.
"It's huge," Holland said. "There's never going to be enough words to express how this makes me feel. These are kids that don't get the same opportunity that I've got right now or other kids have got, so any time I can, I give back to them and let them know that people like us are on their side cheering for them and pulling for them to help them get through these tough times."
Scheppers stays in Minors: Reliever Tanner Scheppers, who has missed the entire season while recovering from surgery on his left knee, pitched another scoreless inning for Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, but the Rangers are not ready to add him to the Major League roster.
"He'll probably throw a couple more before he is ready to come back up," Banister said. "He just needs to continue to get outs and continue to throw. His fastball is good, his secondary stuff is OK. We are encouraged by what we are reading, what our scouts and player-development people have said."
Scheppers has thrown five scoreless innings over five appearances for Round Rock, and he allowed one run in two innings over two appearances for Double-A Frisco.

• Third baseman Adrián Beltré has been named the Rangers' Player of the Month for August, during which he hit .333 with nine home runs, 24 RBIs, 13 walks and 19 runs over 28 games. He has been Rangers' Player of the Month nine times in his six seasons with the club.
• The Rangers hit 38 home runs in August while allowing just 25, the second lowest in the Major Leagues. Overall, 1,053 home runs were hit in August, the second most in a month in Major League history.
• The Rangers hit five home runs against the Mariners on Wednesday, including a grand slam by Carlos Gómez, a three-run homer by Rougned Odor, a two-run homer by Beltre and a solo shot by Ryan Rua. It's the first time they have hit for the "home run cycle" since Aug. 1, 2002.
• Bench coach Steve Buechele is expected to miss Sunday's game so he can attend his son Shane's first college football game. Shane Buechele is expected to play quarterback for the University of Texas against Notre Dame.
