Colorado Rockies recall right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez

Right-handed pitcher Chad Qualls placed on 10-day disabled list with lower back spasms

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez from Triple-A Albuquerque and have placed right-handed pitcher Chad Qualls on the 10-day disabled list with lower back spasms, retroactive to Friday, June 16.

  • Estévez, 24, will be making his fourth stint on the Major League roster, which includes an appointment as the 26th man on May 18 … made his first career Opening Day roster this season, and has combined to go 3-0 with a 8.16 ERA (14.1 IP, 13 ER), five walks and 15 strikeouts in 16 games with Colorado … in 13 relief appearances with Albuquerque this season, is 1-2 with a 2.92 ERA (12.1 IP, 4 ER), seven walks and 13 strikeouts … the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native made his Major League debut for Colorado on April 23, 2016 vs. Los Angeles-NL and has gone 6-7 with 11 saves and a 5.84 ERA (69.1 IP, 45 ER) with 33 walks and 74 strikeouts over 79 career appearances.
