Eloy Jimenez and his potent bat fueled Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach's late comeback against Down East on Friday, as the Cubs' top-ranked prospect hit a key home run in the eighth before delivering a game-tying double with two outs in the ninth that would set the stage for a walk-off win in extra frames by the Pelicans.
After going 0-for-3 at the plate to begin the game, Jimenez, MLBPipeline.com's No. 8 overall prospect, made his first hit count as he connected on a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut Myrtle Beach's deficit to 6-4.

Jimenez's second hit proved even more crucial in the victory. With Myrtle Beach down to its final out, and Jimenez down to his final strike, the 20-year-old outfielder came through with a line-drive double to left field to plate the tying run and send the game into extra innings.

While a shoulder injury delayed the start of Jimenez's season until May 14, he's quickly made up for some of that lost time by hitting .275/.403/.529 with four homers in his first 15 games in the Carolina League.

• No. 10 overall prospect Brendan Rodgers (Rockies' No. 1) extended his hitting streak to 12 games with his ninth straight multi-hit effort for Class A Advanced Lancaster. He didn't collect his second hit until the top of the ninth inning, when he plated a pair with a double to cap a 2-for-5 showing at the plate. The 20-year-old shortstop is putting up robust numbers this season, as he currently leads the California League in all three triple-slash categories (.397/.419/.689), with eight homers and 35 RBIs in 35 games.
• No. 12 overall prospect Rafael Devers (Red Sox's No. 1) started the scoring for Double-A Portland with a two-run home run in the first inning before finishing 3-for-4 in the Sea Dogs' loss. The multi-hit performance was the third straight for the 20-year-old third baseman, who's gone 7-for-13 in that span to lift his season batting line to .301/.364/.523.

• No. 50 overall prospect Triston McKenzie (Indians' No. 3) took the loss for Class A Advanced Lynchburg despite yielding one earned run on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts in seven innings. Among active Carolina League hurlers, the 19-year-old righty ranks first in strikeouts (71) and opponents' average (.162), second in WHIP (0.95) and fourth in ERA (2.65).
• No. 54 overall prospectLuis Ortiz (Brewers' No. 4) went the distance for the first time in his career, albeit with the help of Mother Nature. The 21-year-old right-hander scattered five hits over six scoreless innings for Double-A Biloxi before the skies opened up and prematurely ended the contest. He'd matched his season high with six strikeouts and walked one up to that point, while throwing 51 of his 74 pitches for strikes.
• Phillies No. 4 prospect Nick Williams stayed hot as he connected on a three-run homer in a 2-for-4 performance for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The homer was the 23-year-old outfielder's sixth in the past 10 games and gives him 11 for the season, while the multi-hit performance improved his slash line to .283/.317/.513 through 52 games.

• Rockies No. 5 prospect Ryan Castellani completed eight innings for a second straight start and is now 4-0 in his last four starts for Double-A Hartford. The scoreless performance was the best of the season for the 21-year-old righty, as he scattered five hits and matched his season high with eight strikeouts while throwing 73 of his 104 pitches for strikes.

• Mets No. 5 prospect Desmond Lindsay homered in his second straight game for Class A Columbia, something he's now done twice this season. The homer, his fifth, also marked a new career high for the 20-year-old outfielder after he totaled four in 37 games last season in an injury-plagued campaign.
• Padres No. 11 prospect Michael Gettys set a career high by hitting a trio of solo homers for Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore in a win over San Jose. It also was the first three-homer game by a Lake Elsinore player since Colt Morton accomplished the feat on July 14, 2007. For the season, the 21-year-old outfielder has hit .261 with a team-leading seven homers in 52 games.

• A's No. 15 prospectMatt Olson belted a pair of home runs, scored three runs and drove in four to lead Triple-A Nashville in a 12-3 win over Iowa. After a down 2016 campaign, Olson has rebounded to hit .285/.374/.575 with 14 home runs and 37 RBIs this season in his return to the Pacific Coast League. Also going deep for the Sounds was Renato Nunez (No. 17), who went back-to-back with Olson in the first inning to increase his season total to 14.
