Bryant, Zobrist need final vote boost to hang on

All-Star Game balloting ends tonight; Rizzo, Russell, Fowler also in position to start

June 27th, 2016

Chicago's Kris Bryant and Ben Zobrist still lead their respective positions in All-Star voting, but their leads have shrunk as today's voting deadline nears.
Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy has outgained Zobrist by 53.5 percent the past two days, as Zobrist's lead now sits at less than 185,000 votes.
Bryant's lead at third base has shrunk to approximately 290,000 votes as Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has outgained Bryant by 25.1 percent over the last two days.
Like Bryant and Zobrist, first baseman Anthony Rizzo, shortstop Addison Russell and center fielder Dexter Fowler still lead their respective positions.
Catcher Miguel Montero (854,629) is currently fourth, but is more than 700,000 votes behind leading vote-getter Yadier Molina (1,568,930) of the Cardinals. Jason Heyward (1,485,679) is currently the first one out in the three-outfielder leaderboard, more than 750,000 votes behind third place Yoenis Cespedes (2,249,489) of the Mets. Jorge Soler is also among the top 15 outfielders in the NL, ranking seventh with 992,174 votes.
