Cubs single-game ticket sales begin Friday

February 23rd, 2016
The Cubs' home opener is scheduled for Monday, April 11 at 7:05 p.m. CT against the Reds.

MESA, Ariz. -- Fans who want to see a Cubs game at Wrigley Field this season should act quickly when single-game tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. CT. Last year's 97-win season and postseason action has resulted in increased interest.
"We're very happy about the support we've seen from Cubs fans so far, whether through season-ticket renewals or sales of our multi-game packs," said Colin Faulkner, Cubs' senior vice president of sales and marketing. "But we want to make sure single-game ticket buyers are aware they should buy early this year if they're looking to get the best value and selection when purchasing."

Any fans who want to get a head start can participate in the MasterCard Presale starting Tuesday at noon CT. Single-game tickets on that date will be available at Cubs.com for a 20-percent premium, or a 15-percent premium for fans using a MasterCard.
On Friday, fans can purchase single-game tickets at Cubs.com. Because of the construction around Wrigley Field, the Cubs will not sell tickets at the ballpark until closer to the start of the regular season.
"There are about a dozen or so games we've seen tremendous demand for, such as Opening Night, weekend games versus our rivals like Pittsburgh or St. Louis, or rare summer Interleague matchups versus teams like Texas or Seattle," Faulkner said. "If fans really want to go to these games, we'd highly recommend securing those seats as soon as they're available during the on-sale [period] instead of waiting until the last minute."
According to Team Marketing Report, the Cubs had the third-highest average ticket price in Major League Baseball last season. In November, the Cubs announced an average increase of around 10 percent for season ticket holders' invoices.
"We understand no one likes price increases, but our goal is to remain competitive for the long term and provide our fans with exceptional customer service and facilities," Faulkner said.
To purchase single-game general tickets, a virtual waiting room will begin accepting customers at 9:30 a.m. CT Friday. At 10 a.m., customers will be randomly selected from the virtual waiting room. All Internet customers will need a valid account. Customers are recommended to register for an account prior to Friday.
There is a four-ticket purchase limit for marquee and platinum games per household, credit card or email address.
