D-backs giving Tomas time to rest lower back

March 10th, 2017

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs outfielder was out of the lineup for the second straight game Friday due to a lower back issue.
Tomas is also expected to miss Saturday's game, and whether he plays Sunday is yet to be determined.
"A little bit of aggravation in the low back area, so instead of forcing it, we're just going to let him play a little catch-up," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "We made a decision that it may be wise to just give him a few days down. We're in no hurry at this point in time in Spring Training."
Tomas is 0-for-17 this spring with four strikeouts.
"As far as I'm concerned, we've ramped up these guys' at-bats, so maybe it's time to slow play it a little bit when needed, and this was one of those situations that I thought the best thing to do would be to pull back a little bit," Lovullo said.
Worth noting
• In order to keep Zack Greinke on his regular turn through the rotation, the D-backs will pitch him in a Minor League game Monday at 10 a.m. MST on a backfield at Salt River Fields.
The D-backs are scheduled to be off Monday.
Greinke will start Opening Day, April 2, against the Giants, and he is set to pitch every fifth day leading up to that.
will start in a Minor League game Sunday while faces the Giants in the Cactus League game.
Bradley has come on in relief of Miller in two of his first three outings this spring, but as starters go deeper into games, that becomes more difficult.
