SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Usually the winner of the Circle K Hot Dog Derby gets a T-shirt of some sort, but Sienna, Dominique and Max Trickett got something much better when they crossed the finish line at Tuesday night’s D-backs-Rangers game at Salt River Fields.

Waiting for them at the finish was a surprise reunion with their father, Sean Trickett, who was returning home from Afghanistan, where he served as an Afghan Special Operations Brigade Advisor.

Trickett stood with his wife, Patty, who served in the Army and Air Force reserves, at the finish line as their children sprinted down the left-field line. Sean and Patty were also celebrating the eight-year anniversary of their first date.

Trickett served 18 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army, including multiple deployments in Iraq in addition to conducting POW & MIA investigations on seven deployments to Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. He also served as Master Instructor at the U.S. Army Intelligence Training Center at Fort Huachuca.
