Pollock (groin) taking day-by-day approach

PHOENIX -- "Sure", A.J. Pollock told MLB.com, he'd be happy to do an interview Sunday afternoon. He just had one request.
"Can I wait to call you until after the game?" Pollock texted.
Pollock may not have played in a game since suffering a Grade 1 strain of his right groin on May 14, but that doesn't mean he's not still keeping close tabs on his teammates.
"It's been fun watching the guys play well," he said. "They've played some really good baseball and it's been fun to be able to tune in. In some ways I feel like I'm there. We've got a really close group and I've got a bunch of the guys sending me text messages."
When the team is at home, Pollock comes to Chase Field and does his rehab work there.
When the D-backs are on the road as they were for a just-completed 11-game road trip, he goes each day to the team's Salt River Fields facility.
"I do miss them when they're on the road, especially a long trip like this," Pollock said. "So, I'm excited for them to come home for the homestand."
Pollock has been hitting and has also graduated from running on an anti-gravity treadmill to running outside.
"I'm doing just about everything," Pollock said. "I think the running part I need to get ramped up to game speed, but everything else is game speed right now. I think I just have to get the intensity of my sprints higher and I'll be ready to go. Once I get the running where I need to get it I'll be ready to play."
D-backs manager Torey Lovullo has emphasized from the day that Pollock went on the disabled list that the team was going to take things slowly with him and make sure that he was absolutely 100 percent before activating him.
"When you talk about timetable, I don't know exactly how long that's going to be," Pollock said. "I'm just taking it day-by-day. I don't think I'm too far away. The day to day approach really applies here so that's where I just try to keep my head at."
