D-backs recall Jimmie Sherfy and Braden Shipley from Triple-A Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Jimmie Sherfy and RHP Braden Shipley from Triple-A Reno. Following last night's game, the D-backs optioned RHP Silvino Bracho and RHP J.J. Hoover to Reno.

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Jimmie Sherfy and RHP Braden Shipley from Triple-A Reno. Following last night's game, the D-backs optioned RHP Silvino Bracho and RHP J.J. Hoover to Reno.
 
Sherfy, 25, will wear No. 54 and has no prior Major League experience. In 41 games with Reno in 2017, he was 2-1 with 17 saves, a 3.33 ERA (17 ER in 46.0 IP) and 58 strikeouts (11.3 SO per 9.0 IP). The 2017 Pacific Coast League midseason All-Star also limited right-handers to a .130 average (12-for-92) this season, and was named the organization's Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Month for June after 9 scoreless outings (10.2 IP).
 
The 6-foot, 175-pounder owns 63 saves over 5 Minor League seasons in the D-backs' organization (2013-), and has gone 12-13 with a 4.02 ERA (97 ER in 217.1 IP) and 284 strikeouts (11.8 SO per 9.0 IP). Sherfy was selected by Arizona in the 10th round of the 2013 draft out of the University of Oregon.
 
Shipley, 25, allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 5.2 innings in his last start with the Aces on Aug. 12 @ Tacoma. He was 6-6 with a 6.18 ERA (70 ER in 102.0 IP) in 19 starts for the Aces this season.
 
Shipley has appeared in 4 games (2 starts) over 3 stints with the D-backs this season and is 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA (8 ER in 11.1 IP). In his first Major League season with Arizona in 2016, he was 4-5 with a 5.27 ERA (41 ER in 70.0 IP).
 
Bracho, 25, tossed 1.1 scoreless innings last night vs. Minnesota Twins at Target Field. In 13 games with the D-backs this season, he has posted a 4.91 ERA (8 ER in 14.2 IP) with 14 strikeouts. He has held opponents scoreless in 6 of his last 7 games (2.08 ERA; 2 ER in 8.2 IP) with a .219 opponent average.
 
Hoover, 30, struck out 4 over 2.2 scoreless innings last night, the longest scoreless outing of his career. He is 1-1 with 8 holds, a 4.28 ERA (16 ER in 33.2 IP) and 46 strikeouts (12.30 per 9.0 IP) in 38 appearances with Arizona in 2017.
