D-backs select Mitch Haniger from AAA Reno; option Sócrates Brito to Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) selected OF Mitch Haniger (@M_Hanny19) from Triple-A Reno and optioned OF Sócrates Brito to Reno, as announced by D-backs Sr. Vice President & General Manager Dave Stewart.
 
Haniger, 25, hit .325 (138-for-425) with 32 doubles, 24 home runs, 86 RBI, 74 runs scored and a 1.011 OPS in 119 games between Double-A Mobile and Reno in 2016. He was named to the Southern League midseason All-Star Team, and ranks among all full-season Minor Leaguers in on-base percentage (1st, .423), OPS (1st), total bases (3rd, 250), slugging percentage (4th, .588), extra-base hits (5th, 60) and RBI (9th).
 
The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, who entered the season ranked by MLB.com as Arizona's No. 13 prospect, was hitting .351 (80-for-223) with 18 doubles, 19 home runs and 56 RBI in 64 games with the Aces prior to the promotion. Haniger was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers on July 31, 2014, with LHP Anthony Banda, in exchange for OF Gerardo Parra.
 
Over 5 Minor League seasons in the Brewers and D-backs' organizations, Haniger batted .290 (460-for-1,584) with 109 doubles, 60 homers and 260 RBI in 445 games. He was selected by the Brewers in the supplemental first round (38th overall) in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
 
Haniger, who was named the organization's Minor League Player of the Month for July, will wear No. 19 and has no Major League experience.
 
Brito, 23, has appeared in 19 games with the D-backs this season, batting .185 (10-for-54) with 2 homers and 5 RBI.
 
The D-backs' 40-man roster is now at 40.
