SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Zack Greinke said he was a little rusty Friday in the D-backs' 15-3 victory vs. the Dodgers, but that's to be expected for a spring debut.
"Decent first outing is a way to put it," Greinke said. "It's definitely got to get better, but that's the way you expect the first outing a little bit."
Greinke threw 33 pitches, 17 for strikes, over 1 2/3 scoreless innings, a sign that he was not very sharp.
"It just usually is like that a little bit the first outing," Greinke said. "So it's sort of normal."

The D-backs have slow-played Greinke this spring, bringing him along slower than the other starters because there is an extra week to Spring Training this year due to the World Baseball Classic.
Greinke still has five starts left this spring if he stays on his normal five-day schedule. That lines him up for Opening Day and gives him plenty of time to build up his pitch count.
"It should be fine," Greinke said. "I mean, if everything goes as planned, then there's more than enough time."
Greinke said he "didn't expect anything otherwise" when D-backs manager Torey Lovullo announced Monday that he would start on Opening Day.
For Greinke, the real benefit of starting Opening Day is it gets him out of the pregame festivities that usually accompany it, like standing on the foul line for introductions.
"Yeah that stuff is nonsense," Greinke said. "They even do it in Spring Training now, I guess."
