Cano, Syndergaard, Greinke could also excel

May 27th, 2016

Welcome to DraftKings fantasy baseball, the Official Daily Fantasy Game of Major League Baseball.
The players listed below could provide difference-making stats for DraftKings participants on Saturday.
Scooter Gennett: The second baseman has produced some of the most lopsided splits in baseball, with a lifetime .787 OPS against right-handers in comparison to a .352 mark vs. lefties. Gennett could thrive in a matchup against righty Alfredo Simon (10.16 ERA, 2.15 WHIP in 2016) and a Reds relief corps that ranks last in the Majors with a 6.49 ERA.
:: Fred Zinkie's Daily Picks ::
Chris Carter: With 13 homers across 165 at-bats, the first baseman has been one of the most powerful players in baseball this season. Carter could put a ball into the outfield seats at his hitter-friendly home park when he tangles with Simon (career 4.46 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) and an unreliable Reds bullpen.

Derek Dietrich: With a lifetime .788 OPS against right-handers (.641 vs. lefties), the second baseman could provide power at a premium position when he faces rookie righty Aaron Blair (7.59 ERA, 1.88 WHIP). Dietrich could also excel against a Braves bullpen that ranks 27th in the Majors with a 4.57 ERA.
Justin Bour: Since the outset of last season, the first baseman has ripped 32 round-trippers across 459 at-bats against right-handers. Bour could go deep or drive in multiple runs when he brings his lifetime .839 OPS against right-handers (.552 vs. lefties) into a matchup with the right-handed Blair and an unreliable Braves relief corps.

Aaron Hicks: The outfielder has posted notable career splits, with a .751 OPS against left-handers that exceeds his .602 mark vs. righties. Hitting .198 this season, Hicks could be a cost-effective option in DraftKings contests when he faces Rays southpaw Matt Moore (5.47 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 2016).
Mitch Moreland: The first baseman has long fared best vs. right-handers, against whom he has registered a lifetime .790 OPS (.646 vs. lefties). Moreland could go deep or drive in multiple runs when he bats at his hitter-friendly home park against Pirates righty Juan Nicasio (career 4.84 ERA, 1.46 WHIP).
Nomar Mazara: The rookie outfielder will be in prime position to improve on his impressive .330/.386/.560 slash line against right-handers when he hits at his offense-inducing home park against the righty Nicasio (4.46 ERA, 1.35 WHIP in 2016). Mazara could also thrive late in the game against a Pirates relief corps that ranks 22nd in baseball with a 4.09 ERA.

Joey Votto: The first baseman has used a patient, powerful approach to log a lofty lifetime .313/.431/.542 slash line against right-handers. Votto could reach base often or rip a round-tripper when he bats at homer-happy Miller Park against righty Chase Anderson (career 4.36 ERA, 1.34 WHIP).
Jay Bruce: With a lifetime .811 OPS against right-handers that exceeds his .718 mark vs. lefties, the outfielder will be in position to display his power when he bats at Milwaukee's offense-inducing venue against the right-handed Anderson (5.33 ERA, 1.39 WHIP in 2016).
Colby Rasmus: Having ripped 26 round-trippers across 446 at-bats against right-handers since the outset of 2015, the outfielder is a prime candidate to hit a homer when he faces Angels fly-ball-prone righty Jered Weaver (5.33 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 1.9 HR/9 rate in 2016).
Robinson Cano: The second baseman has recorded impressive career numbers on the strength of his lofty .317/.364/.527 slash line against right-handers. Hitting .295 with 14 homers and 43 RBIs across 190 at-bats this season, Cano will be ready to post a game-changing total in DraftKings contests when he faces Twins righty Phil Hughes (5.55 ERA, 1.32 WHIP in 2016).

Kyle Seager: In his career, the third baseman has produced an .802 OPS against right-handers that exceeds his .700 mark vs. lefties. Seager could go deep when he faces Hughes, who owns a lifetime 1.3 HR/9 rate and has posted a 1.7 mark since the start of last season. Also of note: Seager will attempt to put balls into play against a Twins squad that ranks last in baseball with a .662 defensive efficiency ratio.
Noah Syndergaard: With a 2.87 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP and a 10.4 K/9 rate since debuting on May 12, 2015, the right-hander has already emerged as one of baseball's most dominant starters. Syndergaard could post a difference-making total in DraftKings contests when he works at home against a Dodgers lineup that ranks 25th in the Majors with a .689 OPS against righties.
Wei-Yin Chen: Despite spending most of his career facing deep American League lineups and making home starts at hitter-friendly Camden Yards, Chen owns a solid lifetime 3.78 ERA. The fly-ball-prone left-hander could have a stellar start when he works at pitcher-friendly Turner Field against a Braves lineup that ranks last in the Majors in OPS against lefties (.578) and total home runs (20).
Kyle Hendricks: With a lifetime 3.46 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, the right-hander will be in position to compile six-plus effective innings when he works at home against a Phillies lineup that ranks 27th in the Majors with a .665 OPS against righties. Also working in Hendricks' favor: The Cubs lead the Majors by a wide margin with a .736 defensive efficiency ratio.

Zack Greinke: After following up his 1.66 ERA and 0.84 WHIP last season with a slow start this year, the ace right-hander has rebounded to produce a 3.18 ERA across his past five starts. Greinke could continue to thrive when he faces a Padres lineup that ranks last in the Majors with a .610 OPS against righties.
All statistics are accurate through the completion of Thursday's games.
