Nationals' Murphy, Angels' Pujols could join teammates as Wednesday's top picks

July 6th, 2016

Welcome to DraftKings fantasy baseball, the Official Daily Fantasy Game of Major League Baseball.
The players listed below could provide difference-making stats for DraftKings participants on Wednesday.
Bryce Harper: Since the outset of 2015, the outfielder has produced a game-changing .308/.454/.616 slash line against right-handers. Harper has the plate skills to thrive against Brewers righty Matt Garza (5.39 ERA, 1.58 WHIP since the outset of 2015) and the speed to swipe a base against Jonathan Lucroy, who has allowed more steals than all but one catcher in 2016.
:: Fred Zinkie's Daily Picks ::
Daniel Murphy: Hitting .347 with 14 homers across 311 at-bats, the second baseman has been one of the most productive players at his premium position this season. Murphy could continue to thrive when he brings his lifetime .803 OPS against right-handers (.688 vs. lefties) into a matchup with the right-handed Garza.

Mike Trout: With a lifetime .289/.400/.521 slash line against left-handers, the outfielder has proven to wield a potent bat during those matchups. Trout could put a ball into the outfield seats when he faces fly-ball-prone southpaw Drew Smyly (5.33 ERA, 1.8 HR/9 rate in 2016) and a Rays relief corps that ranks 27th in baseball with a 4.79 ERA.
Albert Pujols: The first baseman will be poised to go deep or drive in multiple runs when he brings his impressive lifetime .313/.403/.602 slash line against left-handers into a matchup with the southpaw Smyly, who in his career has allowed right-handed hitters such as Pujols to post a .758 OPS (.563 OPS allowed to lefty batters).
Brian McCann: One of the most powerful players at his premium position, the catcher could rip his 14th roundtripper of the season when he brings his lifetime .822 OPS against right-handers (.753 vs. lefties) into a matchup with fly-ball-prone righty Miguel Gonzalez (career 4.68 FIP, 1.3 HR/9 rate) at homer-happy U.S. Cellular Field.
Didi Gregorius: With notable career splits (.728 OPS against right-handers, .609 mark vs. lefties), the shortstop -- who is hitting .322 since June 1 -- could provide cost-effective production against the right-handed Gonzalez (4.88 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 2016) at the White Sox hitter-friendly venue.

Carlos Beltran: With 19 homers across 270 at-bats, the outfielder has been one of the most powerful players in the American League this season. Beltran could continue his strong campaign when he tangles with the homer-prone Gonzalez at the power-friendly U.S. Cellular Field.
Corey Dickerson: Hitting .213 this season, the outfielder could have a reduced price tag in DraftKings contests when he brings his impressive lifetime .891 OPS against right-handers (.647 vs. lefties) into a matchup with Angels fly-ball-prone righty Jered Weaver (5.51 ERA, 1.9 HR/9 rate in 2016).
Jose Altuve: Hitting .353 with 14 homers, 21 steals, 49 RBIs and 62 runs across 378 plate appearances, the second baseman has been arguably the most productive player in baseball this season. Altuve could contribute in multiple ways when he brings his fleet feet and lifetime .352/.402/.502 slash line against left-handers into a matchup with a likely battery combination of Mariners southpaw Wade LeBlanc (career 4.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) and Chris Iannetta, who has allowed more steals than all but three catchers in 2016.
George Springer: From a premium lineup spot, the outfielder could reach base often or score multiple runs when he takes his lifetime .892 OPS against left-handers (.797 vs. righties) into a matchup with the southpaw LeBlanc (career 4.61 FIP)
Stephen Piscotty: The second-year outfielder will be poised to improve on his lofty lifetime 1.011 OPS against left-handers (.794 vs. righties) when he tangles with Pirates southpaw Jeff Locke (5.13 ERA, 1.36 WHIP in 2016).
Buster Posey: With a career .328/.390/.562 slash line against left-handers, the catcher has proven to be among the best in baseball during those matchups. On Wednesday, Posey could excel against southpaw Jorge De La Rosa (career 4.61 ERA, 1.44 WHIP), who in his career has allowed right-handed hitters such as Posey to post a .797 OPS (.639 OPS allowed to lefty batters).
Jake Lamb: With 19 homers and 59 RBIs across 276 at-bats, the third baseman is in the midst of a breakout season. Lamb could continue to excel when he brings his lifetime .836 OPS against right-handers (.600 vs. lefties) into a matchup at his hitter-friendly home park against righty Colin Rea (career 4.64 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) and a Padres bullpen that ranks 26th in the Majors with a 4.56 ERA.

Ervin Santana: Having produced a 4.50 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP this season, the right-hander could have a reduced price tag in DraftKings contests when he works at home against an A's lineup that ranks 28th in the Majors with a .690 OPS against righties.
Adam Warren: Making a spot start, the right-hander could compile six-plus effective innings when he works at home against a Reds lineup that ranks 27th in baseball in OPS vs. righties (.691) and 28th in OPS on the road (.682). Also working in Warren's favor: He will work in front of a Cubs squad that leads the Majors with a .729 defensive efficiency ratio.
Tanner Roark: With a 3.08 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP in his career, the right-hander has become a trusted second starter in DraftKings contests. Roark could combine a win with a handful of strikeouts when he works at home against a Brewers lineup that ranks 27th in OPS on the road (.683) and has struck out more times (780) than any team in baseball.
All statistics are accurate through the completion of Monday's games.
