GLENDALE, Ariz. -- John Danks threw six scoreless innings and Avisail Garcia drove in two as the White Sox claimed a 6-1 victory over the Padres Wednesday at Camelback Ranch for their fifth win in six games. Drew Pomeranz went four strong innings for San Diego.
Danks was coming off an outing Friday in which he limited the Cubs to one hit over five scoreless frames while striking out seven. He added to that mix by striking out six and walking one while allowing seven hits on Wednesday. Three of those hits came in the fourth inning, but trouble was avoided due to an around-the-horn double play started by Todd Frazier on a Yangervis Solarte grounder.
"I am definitely feeling like I'm ready for the season to start," Danks said. "It can tend to be a bit monotonous out here. [My] body's feeling good, feel good about where I'm at -- ready to play some games that count."

"He's getting ahead. That's the No. 1 thing," catcher Dioner Navarro said of Danks. "Obviously, everyone knows he's not an overpower guy, he's a paint guy. So if he gets ahead, he's got a great shot. If he falls behind, it's going to be a little bit harder."
Pomeranz was making his first Cactus League start, although he had logged previous extended appearances covering two and three innings for the Padres. The left-hander yielded one hit over four innings, fanning four and walking one.
That one hit was a leadoff home run from Garcia in the fourth. Garcia added a run-scoring single in the fifth, which was two batters after Brett Lawrie delivered a two-out single to bring home Tyler Saladino.
Austin Hedges led the way on offense for the Padres, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Up next for the Padres:Colin Rea is inching closer to winning one of the Padres' two available rotation spots out of camp, and a solid performance on Thursday afternoon against the division-rival D-backs would only help his chances. In four starts this spring, Rea sports a 3.86 ERA, and he will be looking to bring down his walk rate. First pitch is slated for 1:10 p.m. PT at Peoria Sports Complex. Up next for the White Sox:Chris Sale makes his second Cactus League appearance on Thursday at Camelback Ranch when the White Sox take on the Angels at 3:05 p.m. CT on MLB.TV. This appears to be the southpaw's last extended effort of spring, with Sale tapering back Tuesday in preparation for his Opening Day start in Oakland. Zach Duke and Zach Putnam also are scheduled to be on the mound.
