In six appearances for the D-backs, De La Rosa has a 5.40 ERA, but all three of the runs he allowed came in one inning.
"He came in today just a little stiff, and we just figured [putting him on the DL] was the right thing to do, given his walk to get back here," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "We thought it would be a good time for him to strengthen that and take 10 days to get back to where he can be without the shoulder tendinitis."
Barrett appeared in 68 games for the D-backs last season and compiled a 3.49 ERA. He was thought to be a lock to be part of the bullpen out of Spring Training but experienced a shoulder issue that forced him to start the year on the DL.
When Barrett was healthy, he was optioned to Reno, where he had a 5.68 ERA in 18 games.
