Rivera highlights Tigers' latest Draft signings

2nd-round pick was national Junior College Player of the Year

SEATTLE -- The Tigers continue to sign their Draft picks at a rapid rate. Detroit announced deals Tuesday with 17 of its 40 selections in last week's Draft, including eight of its top 10 selections.

Among the deals announced was second-rounder Reynaldo Rivera, the highest-drafted Tigers selection to sign so far. The national Junior College Player of the Year agreed to terms on a deal that includes an $850,000 bonus, according to MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis. The bonus is well below the $1,148,400 slot assigned to the 57th overall selection.

Fourth-round pick Gio Arriera, a junior college right-hander out of Palm Beach State College, signed for $325,000, according to MLB Pipeline's Jonathan Mayo. The slot value for the 125th overall selection was $420,700. Sixth-round pick Dane Myers, a two-way player from Rice University who will be a pitcher in the Tigers' system, signed for slot value at $241,600, according to Callis.

Of the two Tigers top-10 picks yet to sign, one is first-rounder Alex Faedo. He's busy at the moment pitching for the University of Florida in the College World Series. The other is fifth-rounder Sam McMillan, a high school catcher out of Georgia. He'll have to weigh whether to turn pro now or play college ball at Florida, where he has committed.

Other second-day picks to sign include: Pepperdine reliever Max Green (eighth round); Kent State outfielder Luke Burch (ninth); and Oklahoma State outfielder Garrett McCain (10th).

Third-day picks to sign so far include Stephen F. Austin reliever Will Vest (12th); St. Bonaventure shortstop Cole Peterson (13th); Texas State right fielder Teddy Hoffman (15th); Lamar University right-hander Carson Lance (16th); Southern Miss first baseman Dylan Burdeaux (20th); Ole Miss third baseman Colby Bortles (22nd); Winona State lefty Mitchell Stalsberg (23rd); Binghamton University righty Dylan Stock (25th); and University of Northwestern Ohio righty Kyle Thomas (30th).
