Dodgers announce selections from third day of 2017 Draft

The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced their final 30 picks from the third day of the 2017 Draft.

The Dodgers made 40 overall picks in this year's draft, selecting 22 pitchers (18 right-handers, four left-handers), eight outfielders, eight infielders (five shortstops, two second basemen, one third baseman) and two catchers. Of the 18 drafted position players, 12 are right-handed hitters, five are left-handed hitters and one is a switch-hitter. Thirty-five were selected from the college ranks, while five were drafted from high school.

On the draft's third and final day, the Dodger picked eight players with California ties in South Hills (CA) High School shortstop Jacob Amaya (11th round), College of Marin (CA) and San Marin (CA) High School graduate Marcus Chiu (15th round), Pepperdine University right-handed pitcher Max Gamboa (18th round), University of California, Berkeley and Laguna Beach (CA) High School graduate Preston Grand Pre (24th round), Cornell University and La Cañada (CA) High School graduate Justin Lewis (28th round), University of San Diego and De La Salle (CA) High School graduate Hunter Mercado-Hood (31st round), San Diego State University and Mater Dei (CA) High School graduate Tyler Adkison (32nd round), Cabrillo College right-hander Brett De Geus (33rd round) and Cabrillo College and Maria Carillo (CA) High School graduate Clayton Andrews (40th round).

In addition, the Dodgers selected Mountain Pointe (AZ) High School catcher Logan White Jr. in the 39th round. White is the son of former Dodger executive and current Senior Advisor to the General Manager and Director, Pro Scouting for the Padres, Logan White Sr.
