Maeda, Thompson and Crawford exit with injuries

Starting pitcher hit by line drive; X-rays negative on right hand

NEW YORK -- Dodgers starting pitcher Kenta Maeda and outfielders Trayce Thompson and Carl Crawford left Saturday night's 9-1 win over the Mets with injuries believed to be minor.
X-rays were negative on Maeda's right hand, which was struck by Michael Conforto's line drive in the first inning. Manager Dave Roberts said the right-hander should be OK to make his next start, as he threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings after sustaining the injury that left his hand significantly swollen.
Thompson was removed after the top of the fifth inning with lower back soreness that he said has been nagging him in recent days. He said he felt it more on what Roberts called a "funky" swing in the fourth inning, but Thompson said he expects it to respond to treatment.
Thompson was replaced in right field by Yasiel Puig, who singled in a run and walked in three plate appearances.
Crawford, who has had left hamstring issues in the past, said he felt his right hamstring tighten during warmups Friday. He legged out an infield single as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning Saturday night, but Roberts then used pitcher Alex Wood to pinch-run to minimize the chances of further injury.
Crawford said he did not think the injury was bad enough to send him to the disabled list.
Should the injuries to Thompson or Crawford linger, Scott Van Slyke is nearing a return from a rehab assignment for a lower back disk issue.
