Puig surprises local RBI players, hosts clinic

LOS ANGELES -- Yasiel Puig surprised 100 Dodgers RBI players Wednesday morning at the Dodgers Dreamfield at Jesse Owens Park, leading a baseball clinic and bearing gifts from Nike.
The event comes just a day after Puig was activated from the DL after recovering from a hamstring injury, but he was still happy to provide a lift for the South LA youths.
"I feel really happy because the kids make you remember the time when you were a kid and it feels nice to be able to be with the kids when we are given these types of opportunities," Puig said in Spanish after the event.

Puig's appearance is part of the Dodgers RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) program, aimed at giving young people from underserved and diverse communities opportunities to play baseball and softball, while also providing education and life resources.
"We take a real pride in what the guys are doing on the field, and this is one of the reasons why we think it's really special what we've got on our team," said Nichol Whitman who is executive director of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation.
The Dreamfield at Jesse Owens Park is just part of 44 parks in LA the foundation has created, with No. 43 and 44 having been dedicated last Saturday at Belvedere Park in East Los Angeles.
