Pedroia finishes 3rd on AL Final Vote ballot

July 8th, 2016

BOSTON -- Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia finished third in the American League ballot for the Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote and won't be able to join his six All-Star teammates in San Diego next week.
Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders won after leading the voting from wire to wire.
A four-time All-Star, Pedroia said earlier this week he was honored to be part of the process.

"There's a lot of great second basemen in this game," said Pedroia. "It's just an honor being on [the Final Vote] with the other four guys. It's been a cool experience."
The ultimate team player, Pedroia is enthused that the Red Sox will be represented by David Ortiz, Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Craig Kimbrel and Steven Wright.
"I'm pretty proud of all of them getting a chance to start, and obviously to watch David in his last one will be pretty cool," said Pedroia.
