ARLINGTON -- Even though the Rangers held the best record in the American League (35-22) entering Tuesday's action, they are not getting much love through the second update on the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot.
Shortstop Elvis Andrus, who was batting .289, was No. 5 out of AL shortstops and was the team's only player in the top five (top 15 for the outfield) at his position.
"That would be awesome," Andrus said. "As a player, that's what you want. We'll see what happens."

Andrus was a critical performer in the team's sweep over the Mariners this past weekend, scoring the tying run in the series finale Sunday by faking out Mariners left fielder Stefen Romero on a sacrifice fly. He's also shored up the left side of the infield for the Rangers, who have the fourth-highest fielding percentage in the AL.
A couple of Rangers outfielders also are deserving of consideration, as well. Nomar Mazara had the second-highest batting average among qualifying AL outfielders at .319, and his 10 homers were tied for the most out of AL rookies. But he's not on the ballot and will need a write-in campaign.
Right behind Mazara is Ian Desmond, whose .307 average was No. 3 among AL outfielders and one point higher than that of Mike Trout, who had the third-most votes of any player in the AL.
