Fan conscious after being hit by foul ball

MILWAUKEE -- A Brewers spokesperson said the female fan struck on the side of the head by a foul ball during Tuesday's game at Miller Park was conscious and alert while she was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The woman, sitting down the third-base line just off the far end of the visitor's dugout, was struck by a ball off the bat of Rockies catcher in the second inning. Brewers third baseman said the ball appeared to carom off the railing of the photographers' well before it hit the fan.
The game was delayed a few minutes while emergency medical personnel reached the scene.
"Obviously you never want to see that happen," Hundley said. "Hopefully she's all right. I'll try to reach out and see what's going on."
In accordance with a Major League Baseball directive sent to all teams in December, the Brewers extended the netting at Miller Park prior to this season. It now reaches the inside edge of each dugout.
