Fantasy Q&A: Zinkie fields Twitter questions

March 8th, 2016

MLB.com fantasy guru Fred Zinkie fielded questions from fans during a live Twitter chat at @Fantasy411 on Tuesday. Check out the chat transcript below and check out the @Fantasy411 Twitter handle and MLB.com's fantasy home. Questions and answers have been edited for clarity.
@ItsSalJr: After an impressive Spring Training appearance from Lucas Giolito, what is his fantasy value?
Fred Zinkie: Don't get too carried away with spring stats. Giolito is a top prospect no matter how he fares this spring. And, he's likely to open the year in the Minors. He is definitely someone to stash.
@JasonStier: Please rank for the next three years: Carlos Rodon, Adam Wainwright, Marcus Stroman, Steven Matz, Tyler Glasnow, Giolito.
Zinkie: Rodon, Stroman, Matz, Wainwright, Glasnow, Giolito.
@yankees_98: What is the highest you would draft Mookie Betts?
Zinkie: I can justify him as high as 10th overall.
@Jared_Grossman5: Do you believe that Maikel Franco could compile 25 homers and 100 RBIs this season?
Zinkie: I could see the 25 homers. I doubt that his supporting cast will allow him to drive in 90 runs.
@morney87: Would you rather own Aaron Nola, Rodon or Matz for '16?
Zinkie: For '16, I will rank them Matz, Rodon, Nola.
@jtdstrike: What is your stance on streaming?
Zinkie: Every league has rules, and every owner works within those rules. If your league allows streaming, go for it. If you don't like it, change the league rules to discourage it.
@Mandosv05 : Could you make a case for Carlos Correa at pick five and Betts as a second-round pick?
Zinkie: Betts is a good value in round two. I would rather draft Clayton Kershaw or Josh Donaldson at pick five, but Correa is also fine at that point.

@mitchanderson15: Should I keep Nolan Arenado for $25 or Corey Kluber for $5?
Zinkie: Arenado will be drafted far ahead of Kluber in all leagues. But prices matter greatly in keeper formats, so you need to keep Kluber.
@JoeStraight_Edg: I have the eighth pick in my draft. Please recommend some players to target in round one.
Zinkie: Assuming that Donaldson and Kershaw are off the board, you could target Correa, Giancarlo Stanton or Arenado.
@Judypet58023916: Should I keep Jose Altuve or Betts? I think Betts is going to have a great year.
Zinkie: I agreed on Betts, and I'm fine with you keeping him. I slightly lean to Altuve, mostly because he is eligible at second base. But this is a close call.
@GeekyBaseball: Are you optimistic about A.J. Reed or Trevor Story?
Zinkie: Story should have early-season value. Reed could be the Astros' first baseman by May. Both should be drafted in standard leagues.
@einstein2u: Please rank: Jake Odorizzi, Raisel Iglesias, Patrick Corbin and Taijuan Walker.
Zinkie: Odorizzi, Walker, Iglesias, Corbin.
@D_Oakes: Who do project to be the top-five fantasy pitchers this season in points leagues?
Zinkie: Kershaw, Scherzer, Arrieta, Sale, Bumgarner.

@EasyMoney81: In a head-to-head keeper league, would you rather draft Story or Orlando Arcia?
Zinkie: Arcia. Story is a good SS prospect, but not the only SS prospect in the Colorado system.
@PDT4LIFE1: Do you take anything away from Spring Training stats from veteran players when compiling rankings?
Zinkie: Very rarely. Perhaps for those coming off a serious injury.
@banoycocina: Is Derek Norris a catcher to target as a late-round pick with secure playing time?
Zinkie: Norris is the guy to target in that scenario. He should handle a heavy workload.
@Ian_mcWhinnie14: Who has more upside in your opinion: Corey Seager or Kyle Schwarber?
Zinkie: For '16, Schwarber has more upside.
‏@McGauley2: Is it worth drafting Yu Darvish in later rounds and stashing him away for a month or two?
Zinkie: Yes, definitely. He could make more than 20 starts this season.

@MDL512: I got the seventh pick in a snake draft, if Andrew McCutchen falls to me should I draft him or Correa?
Zinkie: Go with Correa, and get the massive edge at shortstop.
@josealann: Who has more value for '16: Jose Fernandez or Matt Harvey?
Zinkie: For '16, I'll go with Harvey because of the higher expected innings total.
@bzimm12: In a points league, would you rather own Miguel Cabrera or Anthony Rizzo?
Zinkie: Rizzo. He could be extremely productive in that lineup.
@Adiassi: Do you see Chris Archer having a big year? Could he solidify tier-one ace status?
Zinkie: The AL East is tough. I can see him as a low-end mixed-league ace or a high-end No. 2 starter.
@1_Louder: Please name your top 3 NL closers.
Zinkie: Jeurys Familia, Mark Melancon, Trevor Rosenthal. NL closers are a weak group.
