Former Oriole Clark added to coaching staff

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Orioles officially announced that Howie Clark will be joining the staff as assistant Major League hitting coach this season.

Clark, who has been at Spring Training the past few days, joins a staff that includes hitting coach Scott Coolbaugh, third-base coach Bobby Dickerson, first-base coach Wayne Kirby, pitching coach Roger McDowell, bullpen coach Alan Mills, bench coach John Russell and Major League coach Einar Diaz.

Clark, who has been at Spring Training the past few days, joins a staff that includes hitting coach Scott Coolbaugh, third-base coach Bobby Dickerson, first-base coach Wayne Kirby, pitching coach Roger McDowell, bullpen coach Alan Mills, bench coach John Russell and Major League coach Einar Diaz.

The 43-year-old Clark was the hitting coach for the Double-A Bowie Baysox last year and was the hitting coach for the Class A Delmarva Shorebirds in 2015.

Clark played six Major League seasons, with the Orioles (2002, '06), Blue Jays ('03-'04, '07), and Twins ('08), batting .262/.329/.358 with three home runs and 26 RBIs in 134 career Major League games.
