Pence to undergo MRI for back issue
October 1st, 2017
SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants right fielder Hunter Pence said that he will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the nature and extent of his lingering back trouble, which flared up again as he made a daring catch during Sunday's 5-4, season-ending victory over the Padres.
Pence dashed into the right-center-field gap and dove to snare Hunter Renfroe's sinking line drive, ending the Padres' half of the seventh inning. Pence slid a few feet after making the catch and rolled over in apparent pain. He was able to jog off the field, but he was removed from the game.
"I don't think it's anything serious," said Pence, who jokingly added, "I'm off tomorrow."
