Assuming Cueto experiences no ill effects from the session, he could find himself atop a Minor League mound again next week during the Giants' three-game series against the Brewers.
"I could see Johnny starting a rehab on Monday," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Friday. "But I'll wait until tomorrow to say when, where and all that. But it's a good possibility."
The Giants have used rookie Chris Stratton and veteran Matt Cain in place of Cueto, who last pitched in the Majors when San Francisco opened the second half of its season in San Diego in mid-July.
Both Triple-A Sacramento and Class A Advanced San Jose have home games Monday. Cueto originally landed on the DL with blister-related issues but experienced the setback in a start for San Jose earlier this month.
• Brandon Belt (concussion) performed 20 minutes of cardio activity Thursday, Bochy said, and built upon that mark Friday. He's using the treadmill and elliptical to get his heart rate up.
"He's doing quite well," Bochy said.
• Joe Panik, on the seven-day concussion DL, was set to be evaluated Friday. Bochy indicated he could join Belt in cardio activity should the prognosis be positive.
