Pipeline Preview: Mejia looks to extend home run high

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: (Indians' No. 1), Akron vs. New Hampshire (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Mejia, MLBPipeline.com's No. 16 overall prospect, connected on his 12th home run on Monday in a 2-for-5 performance for Double-A Akron. The homer, a fifth-inning solo shot, marked a new career high for the 21-year-old catcher, who hit 11 homers in 102 games across two levels in 2016. Beyond the power, the switch-hitting Mejia has produced a .316/.368/.529 batting line over 74 games in the Eastern League.

Pitcher to watch:Jorge Guzman (Yankees' No. 11), Staten Island vs. Williamsport (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Guzman took the loss in his last start for Class A Short Season Staten Island, allowing three earned runs in four innings. The 21-year-old right-hander still struck out seven in the outing to push his season total to 56, good for a share of the New York-Penn League lead. Acquired last fall from Houston as part of the trade, Guzman enters Tuesday start, his ninth this season, with a 2.53 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and a .212 opponents' average.
Duel of the day: Bryse Wilson (Braves' No. 22) vs. Melvin Adon (Giants' No. 23), Rome at Augusta (7:05 p.m. ET)
Wilson, 19, has been solid during is full-season debut in the South Atlantic League, posting a 2.65 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP over 105 1/3 innings (20 starts) with Class A Rome. The right-hander has recorded 103 strikeouts against 25 walks while limiting opposing hitters to a .218 average. In his last start, the 2016 fourth-rounder worked six scoreless innings, scattering four hits and striking out six.
Adon, meanwhile, also has thrown the ball well lately, registering a 2.41 ERA in 33 2/3 innings over his past six turns for Augusta. He won two of those contests, giving the 23-year-old righty a 3-9 record in 17 starts this season. Overall, Adon has pitched to a 3.71 ERA with 73 strikeouts and 29 walks in 85 innings.
