CHICAGO -- Indians catcher , who has been sidelined since July 17 with a separated right shoulder, is continuing an injury rehab assignment with Double-A Akron.
"He's gonna catch nine [innings on Tuesday], he's gonna DH [Wednesday] and then we'll kind of reevaluate what's going on after that," manager Terry Francona said before Monday night's game against the White Sox.
"He's done well. He's caught three games, so we need to let him get the normal aches and pains out of the way -- let alone working on the shoulder."
Gomes is batting .165 with eight homers and 32 RBIs in 71 games. He was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list on Aug. 31, so he's not eligible to be activated until Friday.
