Giants hope Cueto can return for Rockies finale

SAN DIEGO -- Right-hander will test his strained left groin muscle in a throwing session Tuesday at AT&T Park, which will determine when and if he rejoins the Giants' starting rotation.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said, ideally, Cueto would receive Thursday's starting assignment in the series finale against the Colorado Rockies.
Currently, , and are scheduled to face Colorado on Tuesday through Thursday, in that order.
"As soon as we can get him out there, he'll be out there," Bochy said of Cueto (17-5), San Francisco's winningest starter. Cueto sustained his injury while pitching Tuesday at Los Angeles, where he left the game after working 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
Cueto has accumulated 212 2/3 innings, his third-highest total in nine big league seasons.
