MIAMI -- Javier Baez's right hand was swollen after his dive into the seats on Friday night, but that isn't going to stop him from aggressively trying to make plays. The Cubs infielder said he was looking for something to grab onto after catching the Marlins' J.T. Realmuto's popup, but his right hand smacked the cement flooring in the stands.
"When I tried to catch it, I was looking for something to grab and I hit the ground," Baez said Saturday.
It was one of a series of web gems this season for Baez, who started at third on Friday and was at second base on Saturday. The versatile infielder avoided getting cut and didn't have any bruises after his dive.
"I can walk, I can hit, I can talk, so I'm playing," Baez said.

At least the fans in the area at Marlins Park tried to provide some support for Baez -- and he wasn't sure if they were Cubs fans.
"They all tried to help me," he said.
Baez recalled a similar play recently at Wrigley Field and was worried at that time that the fans would interfere with the ball. This time, they got out of his way.
Cubs manager Joe Maddon likes the defensive skills.
"When he really understands what he's doing at the plate, that's when people will really start talking about him," Maddon said of Baez. "He'll play both sides of the ball and be a ridiculously good defender. He's learned how to walk more; he'll do all those things with time."
