PEORIA, Ariz. -- Jon Jay hit two home runs and Wil Myers and Adam Rosales also went deep in the Padres' 11-9 Cactus League win over the Dodgers on Tuesday at Peoria Stadium.
There were six homers in the game, as Justin Turner and Joc Pederson homered for the Dodgers, who brought up right-hander Ross Stripling from their Minor League camp to start the game.
Stripling allowed the initial trio of homers. Jay hit a solo shot in the third inning and a two-run blast in the fifth, giving him five on the spring. Myers' homer -- a two-run shot -- was his fourth of the spring and came as the Padres scored four times in the fifth inning.
Rosales' three-run blast came in the seventh against Dodgers reliever Luis Avilan. Pederson answered with a three-run shot of his own off Padres reliever Trey McNutt during a six-run eighth for the Dodgers.
Stripling pitched five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Right-hander Colin Rea started for the Padres and worked five innings as well. He allowed three runs on five hits -- including the Turner homer -- walked five and struck out six. Rea is still very much in the running for one of the spots at the back end of the rotation, according to Padres manager Andy Green.
"I thought he was solid," Green said. "He ran into that one inning when his command was a little scattered. He walked a run in. Other than that, I thought he competed against their Opening Day lineup and competed very well. I liked where his curveball was today. I think the last two times he went out his curveball has been substantially better."
Turner was accidentally spiked on his calf by Cory Spangenberg as he slid into third base after going from first to third on Derek Norris' ground out to Turner in the bottom of the fifth inning.
"That was a decent little gash," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "It wasn't a deep cut or gash, but it had some length to it. He'll be fine. He has a scheduled day off [Wednesday] and he'll be back on Thursday."
Up next for the Dodgers:Clayton Kershaw makes his final tune-up for Monday's Opening Day in San Diego when he starts Wednesday against Cleveland at Camelback Ranch-Glendale. Kershaw will make an abbreviated start and after the game the Dodgers break camp and head to California to finish up Spring Training with the three-game Freeway Series against the Angels.
Up next for the Padres: The Padres close the Cactus League portion of the schedule with a clash against the Mariners at Peoria Stadium in a 12:10 p.m. PT start. Tyson Ross will take the mound for San Diego against Felix Hernandez in a battle of Opening Day starters. The Padres then travel to El Paso, Texas, on Thursday to play their Triple-A affiliate El Paso Chihuahuas.
