Ramirez claimed off waivers by Angels

Reds play finale vs. Padres with 24-man roster due to departure

June 26th, 2016

CINCINNATI -- Right-hander JC Ramirez was claimed off of waivers from the Reds by the Angels, it was announced on Sunday afternoon.
Ramirez, 27, had a 6.40 ERA in 27 appearances this season for Cincinnati after he was promoted from Triple-A Louisville on April 22.
The last two appearances for Ramirez were mixed. On Thursday vs. the Padres, he took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits, including a home run in a 7-4 loss to the Padres. The right-hander last pitched on Friday with a perfect ninth inning vs. San Diego on five pitches during a 13-4 loss.
Ramirez's departure left the Reds a player short during Sunday's finale vs. the Padres. Their bullpen also went from eight relievers to seven, pending a replacement ahead of Monday's series opener vs. the Cubs.
