Paredes cleared to ease into baseball activity

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Jimmy Paredes was re-examined by hand specialist Dr. Brian Schofield on Wednesday morning, and he was deemed OK to begin easing into some activity.
The team was initially worried that Paredes, diagnosed with a left wrist sprain, had suffered a fracture, and the Orioles scheduled the outfielder for a second look after some of the initial inflammation in the area went down.

"He did a test with my hand," Paredes said, gesturing to a spot on his wrist that Schofield pressed. "I said, 'No, it doesn't bother me.' He said, 'You are good to go.'" I feel a little stiff on this side. We will wait to see how I feel, but I started to do some things."
Those things included running, playing catch and taking some swings with just his right hand. Paredes had a big smile on his face as he returned to workouts on Wednesday, and he feels optimistic about the 1-2 week timetable and not being that far behind.
"I feel good with doing this, because [with this injury you can] do stuff with your body to stay ready," Paredes said. "It's not bad, it's not too bad."
