Schoop scratched Saturday; likely OK for finale
Second baseman rests vs. Royals with right ankle soreness
KANSAS CITY -- Twins second baseman Jonathan Schoop was scratched from the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon because of right ankle soreness. Minnesota went on to top Kansas City, 5-3, in 10 innings at Kauffman Stadium.
Schoop went 2-for-4 on Friday in Minnesota's 8-7 victory over the Royals and finished the night hitting .259.
Luis Arraez started at second base in Schoop's absence, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Schoop reported some soreness when he arrived at the ballpark on Saturday morning.
"We treated it all day, and he felt better as the day wore on," Baldelli said. "I believe [Sunday], he should be available to play. When these things pop up in the morning, you want to give the training staff time to assess him."
