Here are four interesting items from around the big leagues Monday … • Notching his 17th career multihit, multisteal game, Astros second baseman Jose Altuve also scored three of his team's eight runs in a win over the Royals. Altuve's 17 games with two or more hits and two or more steals are the second most since 2013, with Dee Gordon having 18. • Led by Chris Davis' five-RBI day, the Orioles defeated the Red Sox, 9-7, and improved to 6-0. The franchise last experienced a 6-0 start in 1944, when the St. Louis Browns opened 9-0 and rode that wave of a great start to the American League pennant. In the Wild Card era (since 1994), there had been nine previous teams to open 6-0: 1994 Braves (no postseason that year); 1996 Rangers (won AL West); 1998 Indians (won AL Central); 2002 Giants (NL Wild Card); 2003 Royals (missed postseason); 2003 Giants (won NL West); 2011 Rangers (won AL West); 2015 Tigers (missed postseason); 2015 Royals (won AL Central).
• Giancarlo Stanton hit his 22nd career home run against the Mets to highlight a 10-run attack in a 10-3 Marlins win. For all players through their first seven years, Stanton's 22 homers are the sixth most against the Mets. The top five: Pat Burrell's 36, Willie Stargell's 29, Ryan Howard's 28, Dick Allen's 27 and Chase Utley's 23.
• Texas' Nomar Mazara followed up his superior debut (three hits, a run and RBI) with a two-hit, one-run, one-RBI line. The right fielder is the 23rd player since 1913 to have at least two hits, one run and one RBI in each of his first two Major League games, and one of two to do this while being less than 21 years old. The other: Toronto second baseman Danny Ainge on May 21-22, 1979.
