Altuve builds lead at 2B in AL All-Star balloting

SS Correa, OF Rasmus also among top vote-getters at their position

ARLINGTON -- Astros second baseman Jose Altuve increased his lead over Omar Infante of the Royals as the leading vote-getter in the second American League update in the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot for the 2016 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard. Altuve has 893,332 votes, ahead of Infante's 622,683.
Altuve is aiming to start the All-Star Game for the second year in a row in what would be his fourth appearance overall.
Teammate Carlos Correa is still ranked fourth among AL shortstops with 385,218 votes, behind Xander Bogaerts of the Red Sox (1,040,465), Alcides Escobar of the Royals (814,001) and Troy Tulowitzki of the Blue Jays (433,958).

The only other Astros player to appear among the leading vote-getters was Colby Rasmus, who is at 15th among AL outfielders with 240,651 votes.
Altuve entered Tuesday leading AL second basemen in hits (79), on-base percentage (.411), OPS (.969), doubles (20) and steals (17) while ranking second in RBIs (34) and third in homers (10). He was hitting .336, which was fourth in the AL overall.
