TORONTO -- Josh Donaldson is back on the field and hitting home runs into the 500-level at Rogers Centre. Now he's also the Blue Jays' leader in fan balloting for the upcoming All-Star Game presented by MasterCard in Miami.
Donaldson ranked fourth among American League third basemen as Major League Baseball released its first AL Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot update on Wednesday afternoon. The three-time All-Star received 221,350 votes, trailing Baltimore's Manny Machado (369,069), Minnesota's Miguel Sano (363,607) and Cleveland's Jose Ramirez (351,814).

Outfielders Jose Bautista and Kevin Pillar are the only other Toronto players who were among the ranked leaders in the first update. Bautista is 10th with 195,199 votes, and Pillar is 15th with 160,484. The Angels' Michael Trout leads all players with 776,937 votes, while the Yankees' Aaron Judge is second in the outfield (730,438) and the Red Sox's Mookie Betts is third (337,473).
First baseman Justin Smoak and second baseman Devon Travis were two notable omissions from the list. Smoak entered play on Wednesday leading all AL first basemen in OPS. Travis' case was hurt by a slow start, but he has been one of the league's hottest hitters since the start of May. Entering Wednesday, he led all Major Leaguers with 18 doubles and had a 13-game hitting streak.
