Donaldson off DL, in lineup for Blue Jays

May 2nd, 2018

MINNEAPOLIS -- Three-time All-Star Josh Donaldson was activated from the 10-day disabled list on Thursday. The Blue Jays inserted him at third base and batting second for the first game of their doubleheader against the Indians.
Donaldson has been out of Toronto's lineup since April 10 because of right shoulder inflammation. The 32-year-old recently completed a two-game rehab assignment with Class A Dunedin where he went 2-for-5 at the plate with a pair of singles and a walk. He started his first game at designated hitter and played seven innings at third base in his second.
Donaldson may require some time at DH upon his return but his presence at third will likely shift to second base. Solarte has been primarily playing third since Donaldson went down with the shoulder injury and he has seven homers with an .837 OPS in 27 games this season.
