PHOENIX -- Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner missed a second game after having a lubricating injection into his arthritic right knee as a preventative measure on Wednesday.

Turner, who had microfracture surgery on the knee after the 2015 season, will have an additional day of rest on Thursday, when the Dodgers have a scheduled day off, before returning to the lineup. With Turner out, the Dodgers were missing their entire projected starting infield for Wednesday's game with Milwaukee.

Shortstop Corey Seager remains sidelined with mid-back discomfort, which manager Dave Roberts insists is minor. But Roberts also indicated Seager probably wouldn't return to game action until next week. Seager has played in only three games this spring, missing three with a bruised shin and five with the back. He missed nearly three weeks last Spring with a twisted knee.

"It's fine. Spring Training is long enough," said Roberts. "For him to get essentially a week to be down, it's not a bad thing. We know he's going to play a lot of games this year."

First baseman Adrian Gonzalez, after missing nine games with elbow tendinitis, has joined Team Mexico for the World Baseball Classic. Second baseman Logan Forsythe had a scheduled day off Wednesday and has yet to play in back-to-back games. Like Turner, Forsythe has had lubricating injections in his arthritic right knee.

In other injury updates, Scott Kazmir threw a bullpen session on Wednesday, two days after leaving his start in the second inning with hip tightness. It hasn't been determined when he will again pitch in a game.

Roberts said outfielders Andre Ethier (back spasms), Andrew Toles (hyperextended knee) and Trayce Thompson (fractured vertebrae) should return to game action on Saturday. It would be Thompson's first Cactus League game this spring.

Reliever Pedro Baez (bruised thumb) remains shut down indefinitely.
