"It went really good," Gibson said. "I've thrown from 120 feet twice and it's felt OK. I still feel some of the same irritation in long toss, but the trainers say it's something that will go away once I get more used to it. But once I got to the mound, I felt really good. I felt a little fatigued at the end, but for the most part my arm felt really good while throwing the 30 pitches."
As Gibson noted, he said he still feels some discomfort in the top of his shoulder when throwing long toss from 120 feet. But he said it's a good sign that same feeling didn't occur when throwing off a mound.
"It's really weird," Gibson said. "The soreness itself is something different than I've ever felt. So to have it feel good at 60 feet and at 90 feet, but then get to 120 and feel it a little bit. But it's something I'm not too worried about. They tell me I'll get used to that and it might just be a little overextension."
Gibson, who was 0-3 with a 6.10 ERA in four starts before being placed on the DL, added that there's still no exact timetable for his return, as they have to plot out when he'll be ready for a rehab assignment.
"They haven't mapped it out, but I'm guessing it'll be another three days before I throw my next bullpen," Gibson said. "I think we still have to figure out when the first live BP will be and when the first rehab start will be."
Worth noting • The Twins announced their makeup game with the Orioles from Monday's rainout will be played on July 28 at 6:10 p.m. CT. The Twins were pushing for a day game, but with the Orioles coming in after a night game in Baltimore and a road trip starting the next day in Toronto, the two clubs agreed to a night game.
• Reliever J.T. Chargois, the club's No. 9 prospect by MLBPipeline.com, was promoted to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday. Chargois, a hard-throwing right-hander, posted a 1.54 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings at Double-A Chattanooga.
• Minor League reliever Logan Lombana received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for Ibutamoren, a performance-enhancing drug. Lombana, who had a 3.38 ERA in 16 innings with Class A Cedar Rapids, will start serving the suspension immediately. Lombana, 21, was selected by the Twins in the 25th round in last year's Draft.
