ANAHEIM -- Wade LeBlanc's season isn't done quite yet, as the veteran left-hander was traded by the Mariners to the Pirates on Tuesday for a player to be named or cash.
The 32-year-old southpaw closed out the year with Triple-A Tacoma, and he wasn't among the players recalled when rosters expanded Sept. 1. Now, LeBlanc will have a chance to pitch for Pittsburgh in the closing three weeks of the regular season, though he is ineligible for postseason play since he was dealt after the Aug. 31 deadline for a player to be eligible for the postseason roster.
LeBlanc was 3-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 11 games (eight starts) for Seattle this season after he was acquired from the Blue Jays on June 22 for a player to be named or cash. He was outrighted to Tacoma on Sept. 2 after he was designated for assignment, and he made one start for the Rainiers, losing to El Paso on Friday in the Pacific Coast League playoffs.
LeBlanc allowed six hits and four runs (three earned), with one walk and six strikeouts in five innings in that game.
Before he was acquired by the Mariners, LeBlanc was 7-2 with a 1.71 ERA in 14 starts for Triple-A Buffalo. The eight-year Major League veteran has a career record of 24-33 with a 4.48 ERA in 118 games (79 starts).
