SEATTLE -- The Mariners announced several changes in their baseball operations department on Monday, including the promotion of Jack Mosimann from assistant director of player development to the director of Major League operations.
Mosimann will now serve as the liaison between the Major League club, manager, coaches, staff and front office. He will also oversee clubhouse operations and video operations. Mosimann began his Mariners career as the video coordinator for the Class A Clinton club in 2012 and spent the past four years as the Mariners' player development assistant.
The club also announced the promotion of Jesse Smith from manager of baseball analytics to director of baseball analytics. Smith has been with the Mariners since 2012, when he started as an intern. He was promoted later that year to a full-time position as a quantitative analyst and in 2015 to the manager of analytics.
Two other promotions were announced, with Ian Shaw moving from a video advance scouting intern to the coordinator of pro and international scouting, while Tim Stanton advances from an assistant in baseball operations to coordinator of amateur scouting.
The club also announced the addition of two new full-time employees, with James Roche hired to fill Mosimann's position as coordinator of player development and Joel Firman promoted from a baseball analytics intern to a quantitative analyst.
