The Mariners have hired Todd Donovan as their assistant director of player personnel. Vice president of player personnel Tom Allison also announced Wednesday that Nick Manno, Andy Pratt and Jason Lefkowitz have been hired as Major League scouts.
Donovan will be involved in all areas of the Mariners' scouting operations, including amateur, professional and international. He joins the Mariners from the Rays, where he was a special assignment scout. Donovan spent five seasons as a scout with the D-backs from 2010-14, as well as seven years in the Minor League operations with the Padres, Dodgers, Indians, Orioles and Rangers.
Lefkowitz spent the past two seasons as a pro scout with the Astros and two years prior to that as a scout with the Yankees. He worked in college baseball as an assistant coach at Brown University and UC-Santa Barbara, and he also a year as MIT Science of Baseball Summer Coordinator while working at the same time with the Yanks.
Manno spent the past six seasons with the Blue Jays as an amateur and pro scout. Previous to that, he worked in the Expos/Nationals' organization. He is the son of longtime baseball executive Bruce Manno.
Pratt worked the past five seasons as a pro scout with the Brewers. A former Major League pitcher, he also spent five seasons with the Rangers as an amateur scout. Pratt pitched in the Majors for the Braves and Cubs.
