Mark Buehrle is reportedly strongly considering retiring, but he is not yet ready to announce his future plans, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.
Heyman tweeted Tuesday morning the 36-year-old left-hander has turned down offers in the one-year, $15 million range. He also has not started throwing and has told people, "he entered MLB quietly, and could leave the same," according to a Heyman tweet.
Buerhle was a 38th-round pick in the 1998 Draft by the White Sox, with whom he spent the first 12 years of his career. He was a mark of durability in his 16-year career, logging 200-plus innings for 14 consecutive years and making at least 30 starts in each of his 15 seasons as a starter.
He failed to reach the 200-inning milestone with the Blue Jays in 2015 -- coming up 1 1/3 innings short -- but he led the American League with four of his 33 career complete games.
If this is the end, Buehrle finishes with a 214-160 record and a 3.81 ERA in 16 years with the White Sox, Marlins and Blue Jays. He was a five-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove Award winner and threw the 18th perfect game in Major League history on July 23, 2009, against the Rays.
