Yelich day to day with right hip flexor injury

OAKLAND -- On a night the Marlins had a breakout game offensively in an 11-9 win over the A's, one of their top players, , exited with a right hip flexor injury.
The club is hopeful Yelich will need just a couple of days' rest, but more on his status will be known in a day or two.
Yelich, who was 1-for-5 on the night, was replaced in the bottom of the eighth inning after he lifted a fly ball out to left field in the top of the inning.
"It gradually got worse throughout the game," Yelich said. "Hopefully, it's just a couple of days and I'll be good."
The Marlins have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks, and Yelich could be added to the list. filled in when Yelich was replaced. is an option to start in center on Wednesday afternoon, if Yelich is not available.
The 25-year-old wasn't able to pinpoint exactly what happened, stating it was a "combination of things."
"It got to the point where running, it just wasn't happening," he said. "It's tough to go out there and play center when that happens. We'll see how it feels tomorrow."
For the season, Yelich's slash line is .256/.323/.381 with six home runs and 21 RBIs.
In the seventh inning, he snared a line drive off the bat of to end a bases-loaded threat.
"I didn't have to move," Yelich said. "He hit it right to my chest."
