Stanton defies wind and goes deep

Marlins slugger blasted his first home run of Spring Training on Monday, taking Mets right-hander deep in an 8-2 loss at Roger Dean Stadium.
The solo shot came on a 3-1 pitch, and cut through a stiff wind down the left-field line to land well over the fence and just inside the foul pole.
Stanton, who led the National League with 37 homers in 2014 -- his last full season -- has hit 54 in 692 at-bats over the past two seasons, each of which was shortened due to injury.

Stanton also won the 2016 T-Mobile Home Run Derby in San Diego, hitting 20 homers in the final round to defeat defending champion , who hit 13. Stanton's average home run distance in the contest was 446 feet.
