SAN DIEGO -- Martin Prado absorbed a foul ball of his left foot in the fifth inning of Monday night's 13-4 Marlins win, but stayed in the game and delivered an RBI single to right off the Padres' Brad Hand. But after sluggishly running from first to third on Christian Yelich's double, the Marlins decided to make a change.
After Prado fouled the ball off his foot, manager Don Mattingly and trainer Dustin Luepker checked on the third baseman, who then ran from first to third on Yelich's hit. As a precaution, Prado was then lifted for pinch-runner Miguel Rojas, who took over at third.
"At that point, he hit that ball off his leg, we wanted him to get some ice on it," Mattingly said. "He felt fine. It didn't hurt to get him off his feet. You know as a guy that plays every day, those four or five innings [rest] mean a lot to you."

Prado, who has assumed the role of unofficial captain, exited after going 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk. The veteran raised his batting average to .332.
Prado put Miami in front, 3-1, with his two-run homer in a seven-run third.
